Women of the Fur Trade

Set against the backdrop of the Canadian fur trade in the 1800s, this fearless and irreverent comedy retells the story of Louis “hottie with a brain” Riel through the unapologetic voices of women history forgot. As they navigate love, friendship, and survival, their whip-smart banter slices through the myths of history, offering a feminist reimagining of a nation in flux.

SCPA Drama proudly presents the Calgary premiere of Frances Koncan’s critically acclaimed hit, with sold out runs in Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Thunderbay, Regina and Stratford. Part satire, part revolution, this is the fur trade like you’ve never seen it before.
